Family Time
As we move away from the long dark winter nights, Spring is definitely in the air this month and what a refreshing change it brings with it after the storms and rain of February!
The early Spring months are a wonderful time to visit Mayfair and central London – and obviously factor in a visit to us at the wonderful 4-star The Cavendish London hotel nestling in central Piccadilly – especially with so many great things to see and do as the sun comes out.

Being surrounded by so many royal parks is one of the perks of being in Mayfair and central London. Within a 15-minute walk of The Cavendish London, you will find St James’ park which stretches over 57 acres providing an oasis of greenery and trees as well as a long lake down its centre. Take advantage of the spring sunshine and, armed with some treats for the wildfowl that inhabit the area surrounding the lake, you’ll be rewarded by flocks of feathery friends all eager to make your acquaintance. Likewise, the park’s many squirrels are also incredibly tame and will happily join you on a bench if you have treats to spare. An invigorating walk around the park will certainly blow away those winter cobwebs.

Flora and fauna
One of the highlights of the early summer season of events has to be the RHS Chelsea Flower show which takes place 24-28th May. Book your tickets now to enjoy this annual horticultural delight. The Great Pavilion will once again be filled with the glorious sights and smells of spring providing a fresh floral feast for the senses. Within the pavilion, you’ll also discover the latest developments in horticultural science which promote the benefits of gardening and how it may combat climate change or improve mental wellbeing. Some of the world’s finest growers will be offering displays and practical advice for your own garden whilst the House Plant Studio, which debuted in 2021, provides home inspiration for any room in a house. 

But its not all about the plants. A day at the show allows visitors to enjoy a wonderful atmosphere whilst shopping. Whether you’re looking for a garden sculpture, want to see the latest trends for garden design or simply wish to peruse the other items for sale whilst enjoying some fabulous food and drink, Chelsea has something for everyone. Mum’s the word

When out and about, especially with Mum during March, also keep and eye out for the various activities and displays around the capital’s attractions to celebrate Women’s History Month – a month long celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society – as we’re sure you’ll agree, that’s something worth celebrating.

The luck of the Irish
March also sees the celebrations for St Patrick’s Day on 17th and, even if you’re not from the emerald isle, everyone knows how much the Irish love to share the ‘craic’.
This year the annual St Patrick’s Day parade takes place on Sunday 13th March. Setting off at midday from Hyde Park Corner, this flamboyant and colourful spectacle makes its way along a 1.5 mile (2.4km) route passing some of London’s most iconic landmarks on the doorstep of The Cavendish London including Piccadilly Circus, St James’ Street and Pall Mall on its way to Whitehall. 
Tuck into traditional and modern Irish food from stalls at the St Patrick’s Day Festival which takes place in Trafalgar Square and showcases performances by some well known Irish acts as well as up and coming stars. And the experience wouldn’t be complete without celebrating the day in true style at one of the numerous bars and pubs, decorated for the occasion in green, with a Guinness of course!
