See the Finest London views in St. James's...

  • by Fabricio Torres

For those that haven't been to The Cavendish London (or those that have been but never noticed) we have one of the highest buildings in the prestigious area of St. James's. The current building was finished in 1966 and was at the time a trendy and contemporary hotel. Those days, our restaurant was open 24 hours and it used to welcome many celebrities like The Rolling Stones, who loved partying in the St. James's area.

Oxo Tower to London Eye
View from the roof of The Cavendish London, similar to the views in some rooms and suites.

Nowadays, standing at 130 feet, the building is one of the highest buildings in the area. And has 360 degree views of all London. Some of our rooms are facing Westminster, others face the city, and others face the south west, overlooking Westminster Cathedral, Victoria and the Battersea Power Station on the distance. The suites in the Penthouse are the most privileged rooms in our hotel. They are in the exclusive 15th floor, and the lifts don't get there, which means that the whole floor is very private and quiet. I snook up to the hotel roof and took some pictures that I wanted to share with you, please note that you can click on the images to see the full size pictures.

Turning to the left, you can see Canary Wharf, with the Shard in front, and further to the East, The City.

Our Penthouse Suites have the most amazing views in the building, overlooking the London Eye, the Big Ben and the Thames, and are highly sought after for that reason. The Junior Suites, on the other hand are facing southwest and have impressive views of the city, but do not overlook the major and most important buildings. You can see, however, some fabulous buildings like the Westminster Cathedral, near Victoria Station and the Battersea Power Station, made famous thanks to the emblematic Pink Floyd album cover.

Turning to the left, further South, you can see the London Eye, Strata Tower and the fantastic Houses of Parliament.
