March into Spring in April

Tuesday, 26 March 2024
Spring in London is a delight and, after those long, dark winter nights, what better way to re-charge and revitalise than a trip to the capital to take in everything the season has to offer.

The spring months are a perfect time to visit us here at the wonderful 4-star Cavendish nestling in central Piccadilly.

Put a cheesy grin on someone’s face

Sticking with thoughts of food, are you a fromage fan or a cheeky cheddar chaser? Well, if you are, this dairy delight will be just for you. The London Cheese Crawl which runs every Friday afternoon and weekend from the end of March throughout the year, takes in a cheese trivia quiz as you stroll around devouring a selection the best cheeses on offer. Beginning at our neighbour, Fortnum and Masons, you’ll tuck into some of London’s finest blue cheese at its legendary cheese counter before moving on to Little Italy and completing your adventure in Covent Garden.
One for any cheese aficionado or simply a cheese lover. Book tickets on this fromage frolic here.

Easter Extravaganza

Make the most of the long Easter weekend that straddles the end of March into April (29th March – 1st April) by taking in the annual ‘Passion of Jesus’ taking place on Good Friday on Trafalgar Square. Performed by over 100 actors, the 90-minute free show tells the story of Easter and welcomes thousands of visitors each year.
The following day, the famous Oxford versus Cambridge boat race takes place on the Thames between Putney and Mortlake. Although televised, take in the real atmosphere by joining others cheering the teams on from the bank at this popular annual event. We also lose an hour as the clocks change on 31st March but it’s always worth it to herald in summer.

Home is where the heart is

With spring also comes thoughts of spring cleaning both life and home. The annual Ideal Home Show returns to Olympia from now until 7th April. Showcasing the latest in home-design and décor, the show encompasses celebrity guests and speakers providing advice and insights into home improvements, interior design trends, landscaping and sustainable living ideas.
The show also features the Eat and Drink festival which celebrates the best in modern cuisine providing something for everyone’s taste and guaranteeing you’ll be in pure food heaven. Book tickets here.

Paws for thought…

If your thoughts are more likely to include a leisurely stroll around London rather than spring cleaning then don’t miss out on the ‘Paws on the Wharf’ trail around Canary Wharf. Featuring individually designed, larger than life sculptures of dogs, each decorated by talented artists, take your four-legged companion or the family to discover this fun celebration of our furry friends. Organised by Guide Dogs, the trail aims to raise awareness and funds to help people with sight loss lead more independent and active lives. Running from 25th March for eight weeks until 17th May, the sculptures will then be auctioned off. Great fun to find and easy to explore.

And remember, when your feet are tired from all your excursions this spring, the relaxing haven that is The Cavendish will be waiting for you…
So, with so much on offer over the next couple of months, we look forward to welcoming you for your next stay with us here at The Cavendish London very soon. Book direct for the very best rate and boost your free Ascott Star Rewards (ASR) points at the same time.
