The Shard is the 87-storey skyscraper located on South Bank. That is more than 5 times the size of The Cavendish London, which "only" has 15 floors! It stands at approximately 309 meters (about 1,015 feet), which makes it the second tallest building in the Europe after Mercury City in Moscow.

London's skyscraper, The Shard was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, who also designed the science museum in Amsterdam, NEMO, and participated in the design of the Centre George Pompidou in Paris. The 72 habitable floors of the Shard were inaugurated in July 2012.

Tourists who come to London can enjoy the best view of London by going to "The View from the Shard" observatory platform on levels 69 to 72. Mayor of London Boris Johnson opened this attraction early 2013 and has since then attracted over a million visitors! It is an amazing experience to be able to see the whole of London from the tallest building in the city.

Tickets for The View from the Shard can be booked in advance, online, or can be bought the same day. Ticket prices are £24.95 for adults that pre-book or £29.95 if they do not. For children, the prices of the tickets are £18.95 if you pre-book or £23.95 when you do not. To get there from The Cavendish London is very easy and fast: take the Jubilee Line (grey Tube line) from Green Park, and stop at London Bridge. It will take you about 15 minutes all in all!
