City of London Festival at St Paul's Cathedral from 24th June to 27th July 2012

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the city of London Festival. The theme this year is: City of London- Trading Places with the World and will see classical guitarist John Williams returning with a performance at the Fishmongers. The  London Symphony Chorus conducted by Sir Colin Davies will also perform at St Paul's Cathedral. 

iTunes Festival at the  Roundhouse, Camden Town from 1st September to the 31st September 2012

Although the names of the performers is kept top secret until the very last minute this is a festival not to be missed. Last year saw acts such as Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Foo Fighters take to the stage, with the late Amy Winehouse performing in what was to be her last public appearance.

London Olympics at various London venues from 27th July to 12th August 2012

This summer London will host its third Olympic Games. London will come alive as millions of people descend on the capital to witness some of the greatest athletes in the world compete. This year Britain will show the rest of the world exactly what its made of, with a twist on the opening ceremony by Danny Boyle and rumours of the Queen making an appearance by helicopter alongside James Bond Actor Daniel Craig in what is said to be a 007 theme surprise.

The Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in Kensington from 13th July to 8th September 2012

The season for classical music is finally upon us and continues to grow in strength. 500 tickets will be released for each concert  priced at £10 each and tickets are available on the door. Bearing in mind qeues will form very quickly for the big stars so getting there early is advisable with people waiting in line overnight for the Last Night of the Proms.

Tate Modern Oil Tanks from 1st August to 1st November 2012

£215 million was raised to develop this new exhibition which will form part of the final showpiece to the Cultural Olympiad. The giant underground chambers have not been in use since 1981 when it used to be a power station. The chambers will now host performance arts as well as installation and film works.

London Fashion Week at somerset House from 14th September to 18th September 2012

That time of year has come again, where over 200 designers from the fashion capitals of the world bear down on london with their creativeness. Catwalks, exhibitions and award ceremonies will make up this exclusive event.  London will no doubt become a catwalk of its own during this high profile fashion event.

Damien Hirst at Tate modern from 4th April to 9th September 2012

The most influential artist of his time is showcasing his work in what is set to be an astonishing exhibition. Forming part of the exhibition will be his diamond encrusted skull named For the Love of God to the Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living, which features a 14 foot tiger shark incased in a glass tank. The Freeze exhibition is a must see for art lovers this spring/summmer.
