5 Reasons to Visit London in April

Here are our 5 reasons to visit London in April 2013.

Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum
The Royal Academy of Arts, until 9th April 2013

In AD 79 a catastrophic eruption in Southern Italy from Mount Vesuvius destroyed two cities in just under a day. 1600 years later a more detailed picture of what life was like in the Roman Empire is unveiled. Lectures, workshops, films and craft activities are combined to allow you to really see what an intimate Roman home was like as well as the busy streets of Pompeii.

The Book of Mormon musical
Prince of Wales Theatre, throughtout April 2013

From the creators of South Park, comes this incredibly funny and witty musical. set in a remote village in northern Uganda, two missionaries set out to share their religious views with the locals who are being threatened by an evil warlord. However only one of them have actually read the book and so when sharing the knowledge and losing their audiences interest, he wittingly mixes passages of the book with science fiction. The Times calls it "The hit of the year" whilst The Guardian refers to it as "A work of genius". This show is bound to make your sides split and your cheeks ache with laughter.

Olivier Awards with Mastercard
The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, 28th April 2013

The most prestigious awards ceremony in Britain is back for another year. Presented by the Society of London Theatre to recognise the excellence of professional theatre. We are conveniently located just 20mins walk from Covent Garden. Although "The Bodyguard" has been nominated for best new musical and "The Audience" nominated for Mastercard's best play award, however it is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" that leads the pack with a total of 8 nominations.

Virgin London Marathon 2013
Regent Street, 21st April 2013

It is that time of year again when thousands of people are in training in preparation for the Virgin London Marathon 2013. This year is set to be a spectacular with the renowned Mo Farrah participating in the first half of the marathon in aid of charity. Last year saw Sir Richard Branson himself dress up as a butterfly and attempt the 26 mile long race. Will he make an appearance again this year? Will a Brit take 1st place? Everything will be answered at the finish line on The Mall, just 10 minutes walk from The Cavendish London.
