On the 1st December we launched a competition for our Facebook friends that has changed the way we work on Social Media and helped us reach more of our guests or future guests and improve our service on-line.
The story behind our competition is that we have lost the virtual ornaments for our Christmas tree, and need all of our Facebook friends to help us decorate it, and the way they can help is by posting their Christmas-themed pictures on our wall. The idea is that we would decorate our boring virtual Christmas tree with our friends' pictures, and on Christmas Eve, one picture would go up to the top of the tree and get the top prize, a 2-night stay in a luxurious Junior Suite at The Cavendish London.
We didn't know exactly what to expect, or if we would get any response at all. We discussed the competition with Neil, my direct manager, and Kate, the Reservations manager (thanks, guys!) and they came up with the idea of making it like a Christmas Advent Calendar, with different smaller prizes everyday.
The day before the launch of the competition, I had most of the plan laid out carefully, but was still very anxious about how it would go. It is my first project of this kind, and none of us had any clear idea of the outcome.
At this stage we can happily say that we are very happy with the way it is going, and very happy indeed to have so many new friends on our Facebook page that are taking part by sending pictures from all over the world about this very special time that is Christmas.
From January, our Facebook friends will have even more benefits, so stay around and let me know if you have any questions, or feedback that would help us make our Facebook page a great community.
On behalf of the whole team, I'd like to thank you very much for all your beautiful images and wish you a Merry Christmas.
