Get London Reading Festival

Boris Johnson has launched a big adventure in TrafalgarSquare. As part of an initiative to help eliminate illiteracy amongst 11 yearolds, Trafalgar Square will be transformed into a giant summer festival of reading.

 

The free outdoor event will take place in the middle of Trafalgar Square and will feature famous authors as well as celebrities. Reading off a big stage set up in the middle of the iconic square, the event will feature a massive screen where kids can follow along to the story.

 

This first of its kind event in such an established area. The event will take place on July 13 2013 in Trafalgar Square, just minutes' walk from The Cavendish London and just 5 minutes' walk from major rail station Charing Cross. The get reading festival will allow many families and their children to experiencethe wonderful feeling of getting lost with their imagination within such an iconic setting.

 

To kick-start the event Boris Johnson kindly read aloud from the well-known novel by Kenneth Grahame "The Wind in The Willows" to children at St Mary's in Battersea; Get London Reading flagship primary school.
