Here is our guide to events over the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Don't forget we are situated in the perfect location for you to take part in all the Jubilee events and we also have special rates for visitors to London over the Jubilee weekend.
Date: 3 June
Event: Jubilee Pageant
The largest flotilla assembled in the last 350 years will be taking to the Thames to celebrate the Queen's 60 years on the throne. More than 1,000 boats made up from steam vessels, wooden launches and those used by the emergency services will surround the 'The President'; the official boat the Queen will be aboard for the Diamond Jubilee Pageant and as like many of the boats forming part of the pageant the 22m long steamboat will be decorated in streamers and Union Jacks or some other festive tradition.
The flotilla will start from Battersea Bridge between 2pm and 3pm and end at Tower Hill between 5pm and 6pm.
Did You Know?
The President was built in 1909 and has been restored from its days as a coal-fired steam-powered boat that ended in the 1950?s.
Date: 3 June
Event: The Big Jubilee Lunch
The Big Lunch initiative is taking place to bring communities closer together. Expect to see picnics and street parties throughout London and the UK to mark this special event.
Did You Know?
In 1977, approximately 10 million people took to the streets to celebrate the Queen?s Silver Jubilee.
Date: 4th June
Event: Beacon Lighting
The tradition of beacon lighting has run through British history marking special events such as coronations, royal weddings and Jubilees. After beacons have been lit throughout Britain, the Commonwealth and around the world uniting cities and towns the final beacon will be lit by Her Majesty the Queen at around 10.30pm.
Did You Know?
This year 2,012 beacons will be lit in the celebration.
Date: 5 June
Event: Queen Carriage Procession
Following the lunch in Westminster Hall a carriage will take The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry of Wales to Buckingham Palace. The carriage will travel along a processional route escorted by military personnel from the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force. The route will encompass many of the major sights such as Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and Admiralty Arch.
Did You Know?
The 1902 State Landau, which was used in the royal wedding of Kate and Will, will be making an appearance in the procession.
Date: 16th June
Event: Trooping the Colour
This British tradition has been ongoing since the 17th century where regiments of the British and Commonwealth armies would use the regiment's colours as an assembly point so soldiers could identify members of their own regiment.
Did You Know?
The event only takes place once a year and involves almost 400 musicians.
